The brain as a fashion statement

I've missed sketching and this afternoon after my company left and my work was done, I sat down for a sketch. I've been thinking a lot about this image. I thought what would we all look like if our brain was on the outside and we thought of it as a fashion statement. Would we care if it appeared to have any activity, lit up with new learning processes? Would we care that our receiving brain would light up when people would talk to us and we could prove that we were good listeners? Would we care when we ran in to depressed brains or learning-disabled brains? Or when we saw an elderly brain light up with activity when we offered a kind word? Would we be impressed with brilliant brains and treat them different than damaged brains? Would we care that our memory section was colorful or lacking? Would it help to see the angry brain and either avoid it or soothe it with peaceful conversation? Would we care that crummy foods we eat deplete the color and activity of our fashion brain?
I think our brain is the heart of who we are. "As a man thinketh so is he". Proverbs 23: 7. What would happen if our brain was visible? ( the sketch was digitally enhanced at flickr)

food for thought, odd chick...something to ponder, especially what life would be like if MY brain were outwardly visible and how much time do I spend trying to show something other than what I might be feeling...emotions gone awry!!

thank you for the thoughtful post and very interesting sketch...

What a fascinating thought to comtemplate! My intial reaction is that I am glad i can choose which tought patterns to reveal and which to hide. Some people don't need their brains on the outside - you can read their thoughts simply by looking at their faces and body language... well, sort of! Anyway this is a cool image and I enjoyed reading your post. Thanks for visiting my blog!

Ooooh... I think I would wear a baseball cap all the time! If people saw what was in my brain, I'd probably scare them.

I came here from Simple Woman, and I couldn't find your DayBook entry, but I SO enjoyed your blog! Beautiful artwork, thoughtful poetry and a touchingly intimate peek into your life. I will be bookmarking your page and checking back often. Thank you for your encouragement and inspiration.
You've lit up my brain with new thoughts today, when it was a still, grey lump!

interesting stuff! I think that if we did have our brains on the outside, we would each he a little more sensitive and slow down a bit!!

I like the drawing! And the idea is interesting. I guess I'm a realist where this is concerned, and I believe we would, indeed, find ways to dress up our brains, to hide our thoughts and feelings (brain make-up, brain facades, etc. - maybe even brain masks), and to worship beauty just like we do now. Inside or outside, our brains are still thinking and needing the same things...
