Still working. 16 more to go. (Read about my plan here.) Scary, but exciting little path I'm taking, I must say. Thank you all for your honest encouragement.Once I get about 8-1o finished, I would like to present them to the owner of this gallery setting option that I have in mind to see when and if he would consider them. (I have a very close friend who works in this shop who has encouraged me to do this- a foot-in-the-door as some would say.)
I'm not sure if I should make a notebook/portfolio of prints to show him or show him the originals. Should I show them to him framed or just professionally matted? They are all about 11X14. I think I should matt them all the same, that they will have some kind of collective impact- whatever that means!
Does anyone out there have experience with this and would you be willing to share some tips? I would love to take Kelly Rae's Flying Lessons. And I still may because I think I'm ready. But I really want any profit I might make to go toward my trip to Italy. I know, I know - sometimes you have to spend money to make money.
You would think I wouldn't be so clueless about this as many artist as I follow in this blog world. But I can't remember anyone ever talking about their presentation/ getting-yourself-in-the-gallery-stuff.
Do you have a favorite so far? It's always fun to see what's most appealing to others.

This is so exciting! In terms of what to show, i believe that if you want to sell the originals in the gallery, then show the owner the originals but also get a little portfolio of prints together as this could be great for you to approach other spaces and the opportunity to sell prints, cards etc online (start your own online shop too!). I missed what format the work is on....if paper, then i guess somekind of matting would be good to present them...i hope that helps a little. Ive not had "approaching a gallery" experience so im sure others can offer more. Also put together a little bio of yourself, your work and a resume too. (you can also include your previous work in your overall portfolio)

I can't help you with the business side but I can tell you these are fantastic.....I like all of them but especially the last one...she has such a sweet face and looks as if she might be asking a question...

Another Beautiful one! Love her.As far as the business part,I don't know anything about galleries,I'm learning from you here. Maybe put the prints on wood. Grittyjane has a small tutorial on how to do this for ten dollars,very worth the money! Also I got some prints made at staples for really cheap and they came out so gorgeous,I actually like them better then the original. Hope this helps alittle.
Oh and I forgot to tell you my favorite is "nobodys fool".
Matting would be a great idea, professional artist Pat Dews recommends it and suggest a big 4in matte frame but that would be your call.
Not sure if you have know about a couple of books that help the artist with the business of art but Cay Lang, Taking The Leap & Lisa Sonora Beam The Creative Entrepreneur both are available through amazon.com. Lisa has a great helpful website lisasonorabeam.com
