I love a goat

This is the last page of my 3rd Art Journal. If I continue to keep up at this pace, I should finish about 4 a year. Every now and then, I take the other two and look back as I will with this one. I have seen measurable growth in my drawing and use of watercolor. It's amazing though- every time I start a drawing - I still feel, as if this time, I won't be able to draw- that the ability will have just disappeared.
It's funny that this exercise of writing and drawing in these little moleskins was to be a private exercise- no thought of ever sharing them with anyone, much less strangers.
And again I wonder- how much of your influence has encouraged my art habit? And pushed me past my fears so that I could show up at this page with something- be it ever so humble.
Don't you just love the way animals look at you when you are watching them?

The middle one in this grouping keeps capturing my eye. I'm not sure why.

I think the fear of failure often stays with artists and writers. Maybe it's better for us not to be too confident.

I still worry about this sort of thing but not too much...you know, you can always start over and I try not to take things too seriously...posting my work online has also helped me with this, believe it or not...it's ok with me if it flops horribly...I don't necessarily HAVE to post it!

another thing that works for me is to ask myself, what's the worst that can happen...that goes for every situation in life!

I love these goats! I think you captured that expression of curiousity so perfectly !

4 journals a year ? Wow ! That is prolific. I think I am more like 2 1/2 or so.

Isn't it amazing how the Blogland community provides such support and a safe place to grow as an artist...and in a vacuum or alone somehwere in a lonely studio ? Who would have thought ? I will be celebrating 1 year of blogging in March and I was just ponder yesterday how integral a part of my life it has become...

It really is all about connection, isn't it ? Connecting as an artist, yes, but connecting to our fellow human beings on the path with us ultimately, I think.

Happy Creating !

I feel it is easier sometimes to show your work (or words) to an invisible public, thru a blog. And, it keeps me creating, because now I feel an obligation of sorts, since the blog is out there!!
Love those goats - their expressions are priceless!!!

Those goats seem to be saying, "What are you looking at, punk?" Wonderful faces, composition and color ....

I enjoy the back and forth feedback from bloggerland - it's a little like being in art class again - I think it's a healthy community thing.

I love failure and don't believe in the concept of perfect. What ever you art is it is what it should be.

I always turn my failures into something more. Sometimes that's more failures and sometimes its better than I could have imagined.

you art? That last post was a failure:)

I'm loving these goats! This drawing/painting has a real life of its own and I find it very, very appealing. Great job!

I LOVE this page - this is a great little painting. They're so "goaty." I like the light on the closest one - well handled. Nice confident use of line and tones. Bravo!

I have finally stopped worrying that each drawing will be my last - that I will somehow lose the knack. It ain't like that.
