Collaborative Art
This is a journal piece I did recently experimenting with background, color and design. I had some wonderful little ATCs that Kimmie from Art In Red Wagons had sent me in 2009 and I thought it made it more interesting to lay them on top and possibly develop the idea later with a design of some ATcs (of my own), on canvas. It felt for a minute like I was collaborating with her on an art piece which would be so awesome.
Do you ever think about that? I love collaborative art. I tried to do it with my 5 year grandson, Cash. He was to make a mark and then I could make a mark. He was not happy about me changing what was already pre-determined in his little head, but we'll keep trying.
It has been fun to share some of my paintings and ideas with my daughter as she designs her web-site. (get ready for the big announcement). I feel invested in her adventure- two heads on creative crack make for some wild, fun, crazy stuff.
Next month I was invited to my art guild to share my inspirations and motivations for art journaling. It's something I find easy to talk about and share but I'm still a little intimidated by a big group setting. But simply sharing my journals, my favorite art supplies, my inspiration sounds like fun- who knows- I might really ignite someones creative fires and they go on to make awesome beautiful art that in turn inspires me to my best art.
Don't you think this blogland feels like collaborative art sometimes. But wouldn't it be fun to really share the page, paper, canvas. I have a handmade journal that I could send around. And then we could donate it for a fund-raiser for some great cause that we agreed upon. If anyone is interested, please e-mail me at krantzfarms@dfn.com - on the subject line add: art journal.

heh heh. Well, you KNOW how I feel about collaborating with you! And btw, I love the homemade journal idea. LOVE it. What a great way to contribute something unique to some great cause. If you do it, count me in!
I'll do it to,I think it sounds fun. Maybe we could auction it off and give the money to a charity. I love how you tried to do it with your grandson,to funny.
I forgot to tell you that I love your art too. Beautiful!
wonderful journal art..and I would also love to collaborate! Sounds fun!

Looking forward to hearing more about your daughter's website!
Great post; enjoyed all the details and your collage. What are ATC's? Sorry, it's probably something obvious that I don't know - yet. :-)

i love your idea of collaboration in the journal, hope you don't mind my saying it here too as the email might not ever get sent...but if you want to, count me in, i think it sounds like a blast to do ONE page, instead of several for 6 or 8 people, as many that i have 'almost' done but didn't because of the time commitment...so let me know...and love this piece and also love your little story of making art with your grandson-i've found that mine don't like my suggestions either, they're so excited to get to their own! xoxo
I am so honored to see my little one inchers in your piece! I recognized them before I even read your post! I would love to participate in your round robin project .... I've never been in one before and have always wanted to do it! I have heard from others, though, that you can get a log jam here and there .... You may have to assert yourself from time to time ....
Delicious ideas.
Always inspired when I come around.
Glad I did today:)
Hope this next jaunt around the sun
is your sweetest adventure yet,
with a side of happy surprises.

I stopped by to say hi and wish you a happy inspirational New year.
Also how much I like your painting "Secrets" So pretty and so well done I think. Also enjoying your Christmas decorations. It has been a fun visit. I think you know I broke my leg in Nov. doing well tho and it is healing.
Just a hello and hope your New year 2011 is full of inspiration.
Collaborate. It sounds like fun.
Your daughter's website..Sounds interesting.Can not wait.
Caio,
Katelen :)
I love the first piece you've shown! The colors and textures are amazing!
I haven't done a whole heck of a lot of collaborative art, but how cool to do it with a child! Have you ever played the squiggle game? Maybe he'd like that better... each person makes some squiggles on a page and the second person has to turn them into something!
Hi sweetie, just wanted to pop by to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! yay! xxx
