If I Were A Painter

If I were a painter I would paint the TRUTH. It is so much more colorful than the bland, washed-out world of the un-TRUTH. It is so much more passionate and sensual. It is so much more powerful and acidic and explosive.
Could you handle it? Would it frighten you or draw you in? Would you linger there in front of the image trying to accept what your seeing mind is telling you? Would the price tag be too high for you? Would you set out to create your own version of the TRUTH?
Would you recognize the TRUTH as fine art?
(a work in progress)

I have seen a few lies that were bold
and in your face blue
a few whispered untruths that were red ripe with insincerity.
But i would paint my truth in tones true
true to my heart
true to my soul...
and it would be awash with light

He desired truth in the inward parts of man. So much better then hidding in the dark where all is bleak I would say.
Nice work.

If you were a painter??? I love this post, but I had to huff and puff at the first line. You ARE a painter. How do you define painter? There can't be anything about public acclaim or selling your work in the definition (otherwise Van Gogh wasn't a painter, and if there EVER was a painter, it was Vincent Van Gogh). And I bet you'd fit any other definition you could seriously put forward.

You're a painter, gal, it's well up under your skin by now. Too late to deny it. Just like I am, and Linda, and many others. Some of us are more professional than others (like Vikki) or polished in the final work, but that's not essential to the process or the life of a painter. Painting is personal, first.

And to my mind you've already been painting the TRUTH as you see it. And the more colorful it's been, the better I've liked it. Brava.

PS - you won a CD Cover

The truth - that would mean no airbrushed away wrinkles or warts :)

I could live with that.

This would be a happier world if mirrors were never invented.

We would rely on a friend to tell us the truth - "Do I have any gray hairs that need plucking out?" And they would say - "Keep them - they're a lovely addition to your sweet and wise wrinkles." And we would have to just leave it at that ....

That is a favorite of mine. Whether the Truth is told through poetry, story, music, or the visual arts, it remains too big to tell the whole. So we paint pieces -- yet strive to tell it true.

Can we handle it? It's been given to us is pieces, but the whole is there for the reaching.

Great post. Great questions to think about...
